| Resumo | Brazil has a reforested area with 5 million hectares of Pinus spp and Eucalyptus spp. Because of the spatial distribution and expansion of the reforested areas it is presently being used new tools in order to have a quick and economic mapping. in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul with 400,000 ha, studies to map the reforested areas with the help of the image interpreted Landsat data were developed. For purpose of automatic interpretation the areas were classified into: eucalypto, new eucalypto, baresoil, plowed soil and pine. In 1980 and 1981, the reforested areas were classified by age based on visual interpretation in the following classes: 0 to 1 year, 1 to 2 years, 2 to 3 years, 3 to 4 years, 4 to 5 years and 5 to years. Also, the reforested areas were mapped according to their heterogeneity stand (from: 0 to 20, 20 to 40, 40 to 60, 60 to 80 and 80 to 100) About 209,993 ha (52,91), 24,818 ha (6.24), 28,196 ha (7.08), 24,818 ha (6.25) and 26,856 ha (6.77) were with (0-20), (20-40), (40-60), (60-80) and (80-100) of the heterogeneity stand respectively. The relative error in the interpretation of the Landsat imagery as compared to the field measurements varied from -8.72 to +9.49. In the state of Mato Grosso do Sul forest volume was estimated through a multistage sampling technique with probability proportional to size using Landsat data, aereal fotographs (1:20,000)and field information was estimated. There were selected and measures 35 Primary Sample Units (PSUs), 70 Secondary Sampling Units (SSUs)and 198 Tertiary Sample Units (TSUs). |
